Food, Fun n’ Fitness provides a wealth of information, based on scientifically sound research, along with a sensible & practical approach to healthy living.

Food, Fun n’ Fitness provides realistic solutions to help healthcare professionals & parents:

  • Raise healthy children & adolescents in a not-so-healthy world
  • Understand the appropriate nutrient needs for each stage of childhood development
  • Immunize today’s youth from the media assaults on their self-esteem & help them become confident in their own bodies
  • Develop practical age-appropriate fitness routines

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will be able to: 

1. Identify and understand three major lifestyle arenas, which have contributed to a rise in overweight, obesity and other deleterious health issues affecting today’s youth and their families – and be able to discuss strategies to overcome such barriers to good health with their young clients and families.

2. Understand the importance of each macro- and micronutrient in the development of a healthy child/adolescent and identify at least 3 good food sources for each macro- and micronutrient.

3. Identify and discuss the dangers of dieting in children and adolescents.

4. Identify and understand the similarities and differences of the various types of eating disorders, the signs and symptoms associated with each, and the warning signs indicating someone may be participating in dysfunctional dietary practices.

5. Understand the basic principles of physical fitness for children and adolescents and be able to guide clients of all ages towards improved exercise behaviors.

6. Understand and discuss the relationship between various unhealthy lifestyle behaviors and the development of major, life-threatening diseases/conditions – and the importance of healthy lifestyle behaviors in an effort to prevent the development of such conditions.
